Our Story
The very brief history of 1.21 church stands as a powerful reminder of God's faithfulness, protection, and grace. Since June 2008, and in two locations, Jesus has allowed 1.21'ers a chance to speak to our culture about the gospel of grace in fresh ways. While holding loosely to cultural methods and tightly to biblical principles, 1.21 is seeking to uphold biblical faithfulness and holistic city-wide renewal.
In 2008 our pastoral staff assembled to strategically think about what a reproducing church would look like in the Triad of North Carolina. As a result of those days God birthed a vision in 1.21 to contextualize the full gospel of Jesus to everyone in the Triad (1.5 million).
Our strategy has been simple. We want to worship Jesus. Further we want everything we do to be radically Christ-centered. At the end of the day, we want to help people find their hope, joy, and satisfaction in Jesus.
Our desire is to contextualize the full gospel of Jesus to everyone in the triad (1.5 million). We also believe that we will need to be prepared structurally for these people as, while, and after they have trusted in Jesus. This will include every thing from the multiplication of campuses, elders, Missional communities, all the way to the organization of volunteers, training and facilities.
Each geographical area/neighborhood in the triad aims to have a group of Christ followers seeking to bring full restoration/shalom to there area.
